PIAT or the Taiwan Petrochemical Industry Association was established on December 29, 1977, to coordinate the relationship between the industry, promote common interests, seek improvement and promotion of the industry, and promote economic development. There are 45 member companies, and the chairman is Mr. Cao Ming, General Manager of Formosa Plastics Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
The association helps with the development of the petrochemical industry at home and abroad, and safeguarding the rights and interests of its members. Activities include surveys, statistical analysis, and promoting production, distribution, and sales of member companies. PIAT is also involved in recommending economic policies and industrial laws.
